In the June 6 episode of the YouTube show “ZIP DAESUNG”, SHINee Taemin joined BIGBANG’s Daesung for an honest and heartfelt conversation. The two idols, known for their longevity in K-pop, talked about the emotional toll and pressures of staying in the industry.
Reflecting on his recently completed first solo world tour, Taemin expressed his gratitude, “I was overwhelmed by how many fans welcomed me. I’ve often struggled to truly feel how much love I receive, but this tour gave me a deep sense of pride.”
He admitted that he’s been wrestling with thoughts like, “How long can I do this?” and “Should I leave while I’m still being applauded?” But through the tour, his perspective shifted. “I’ve decided to go on for as long as I can. It was a turning point for me.”
Daesung offered words of encouragement, noting how rare it is to see artists continue successfully into their 20th year in the industry: “We’re setting new examples ourselves.” Taemin gratefully acknowledged BIGBANG as a precedent, “You guys are one of the few precedents I look up to. Thank you.”
The duo shared a deep mutual understanding, with Taemin stating, “There are people around me to talk to, but only peers who’ve been in the industry for a long time can truly understand. I’m thankful I have someone to share these feelings with.” Daesung added that while some may view such concerns as privileged problems, “Not many people can relate to this, which is why I often talk deeply with people like Taeyang or Rain.”
Meanwhile, addressing recent dating rumors with choreographer No:ze, which began when a photo of the two hugging surfaced online, Taemin’s agency firmly denied the relationship, stating they are just close friends. Taemin himself responded via the fan communication app Bubble, expressing his distress, “It was very upsetting because of the misunderstandings. I thought deeply about how to convey the truth. I hope you continue to trust me, and I’ll repay that trust and love.”
